Accessibility

SOS.city is for everyone in the city, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, captions, magnification or voice control. Public information isn't public if people can't use it.

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, across sos.city. That means:

  • readable contrast, text that can be resized, and layouts that work at 400% zoom
  • full keyboard use, with visible focus
  • headings, labels and alt text on every page
  • alerts announced to screen readers
  • captions and transcripts on our videos
  • no information shown by colour alone, and no flashing content

Some sources we link to are run by other organisations. We can't fix their sites, but we can often get you the same information another way.

We have not yet completed a full WCAG 2.2 AA audit. One is scheduled before the site moves to sos.city, and this page will give its date.
